Save Acworth History Foundation Speaker Series

Dr. Tom Scott. “The History of Kennesaw State University.” 7 p.m., Roberts Community and Education Center, 4681 School St., Acworth. Scott taught at KSU from 1968 until his retirement in 2011. His specialties were Georgia history and oral history. He taught seminars and graduate classes on local history, the history of suburban America and the history of American higher education. Scott is author of three books — Cornerstones of Georgia History: Documents That Formed the State 1995; Cobb County, Georgia, and the Origins of the Suburban South: A Twentieth-Century History 2003; and Kennesaw State University: The First Fifty Years, 1963-2013 (written in 2013). Scott headed an oral history project at KSU for the last 38 years. The project has produced several hundred interviews, mainly with residents of Cobb County or faculty members at KSU and SPSU.
